Joel Kinnaman seems to be on a one-man crusade to make
deafsploitation a thing. Having recently played a deaf action hero in John
Woo's
Silent Night
he's now doing likewise in director Brad Anderson's
The Silent Hour. Written by Dan Hall, the film sees Kinnaman play a cop with
hearing loss who is assigned to protect a deaf murder witness (Sandra Mae Frank, who unlike Kinnaman is actually deaf) from the crooked cops out to
silence her.
Mekhi Phifer, Mark Strong and Michael Eklund also star.
The Silent Hour is on Prime Video UK from December 30th.

The official synopsis reads:
A Boston detective suffers an on-the-job accident that leaves him hearing impaired. Sixteen months later, he and his friend and partner must battle a team of corrupt cops attempting to eliminate a deaf murder witness in the apartment building where she lives.
