remakes Cesc Gay's 2020 Spanish comedy The People Upstairs as The Invite. With a script by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, the film sees Wilde and Seth Rogen play a
married couple invited to partake in the orgies thrown by their neighbours
(Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton).
My Father's Island (July 3rd cinemas)
Adapted from the semi-autobiographical novella by David Vann,
writer/director Vladimir de Fontenay's
My Father's Island sees teenager Roy (Woody Norman)
agree to spend a year living with his estranged father Tom (Swann Arlaud) on a remote Norwegian island. What begins as an opportunity for some
father/son bonding turns into a battle for survival when the reality of the
harsh landscape hits home.
Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (July 3rd cinemas)
Directed by Matt Johnson (Blackberry) and co-written with Jay McCarrol, Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie sees Johnson and McCarrol play fictional versions of themselves. Forming a
haphazard musical outfit called Nirvanna the Band, the duo find themselves
transported back in time to 2008. Can they find a way back to the present
day?
Forbidden Fruits (July 6th VOD)
Mean Girls meets The Craft in director Meredith Alloway's horror comedy Forbidden Fruits. Co-written with Lily Houghton, the movie stars Lili Reinhart as Apple, the
head of a coven of witches who operate from the basement of a mall store.
When Apple recruits new member Pumpkin (Lola Tung), she finds her
leadership under threat.
Evil Dead Burn (July 10th cinemas)
French director Sébastien Vaniček (Infested) takes over the Evil Dead franchise with
Evil Dead Burn. Co-written with Florent Bernard, the latest reboot sees a family gather in a
remote house following the death of their patriarch. There they find the
Necronomicon, and we all know what that means.
The Last One for the Road (July 10th cinemas)
Directed by Francesco Sossai (Other Cannibals) and co-written with Adriano Candiago, The Last One for the Road sees a
pair of broke middle-aged men befriend a shy architecture student as they
embark on a booze-fuelled road trip across Italy.
Rosebush Pruning (July 10th cinemas)
Directed by Karim Aїnouz (Firebrand;
Motel Destino) and written by Yorgos Lanthimos collaborator Efthimis Filippou, Rosebush Pruning is a
quasi-remake of Marco Bellocchio's 1965 Italian drama Fists in the Pocket. The film sees a wealthy American family living in Spain thrown into
chaos by the arrival of an outsider.
The Curse (July 13th VOD)
Written and directed by Kenichi Ugana, The Curse stars Yukino Kaizu as Riko, a young woman who investigates her friend's
mysterious death. As other bodies pile up, Riko learns of a curse and
travels to Taiwan to find its source.
The Odyssey (July 17th cinemas)
Never one to shy away from a spectacle, writer/director Christopher Nolan
has adapted one of the great literary epics in Homer's The Odyssey. Matt Damon
stars as Odysseus, who embarks on a dangerous journey to reunite with his
wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) after the Trojan War.
Ish (July 31st cinemas)
The feature debut of writer/director Imran Perretta, Ish follows Ish (Farhan Hasnat) and Maram (Yahya Kitana), two
12-year-old boys whose friendship is tested when they are targeted by
police for a stop and search.
