The directing debut of Gabriel Foster Prior,
The Bystanders stars Scott Haran as Pete, a
twentysomething whose greatest achievement was a runner-up award in a
chess tournament at the age of 15. His dreary life is given a boost when
he's recruited by a group of inter-dimensional beings known as The
Bystanders.
The film also stars Seann Walsh, Georgia Mabel Clarke, Andi Jashy, Lauren Douglin, Nick
Helm, David Schaal, Frank Harper, Marek Larwood, Emily Wyatt, Lucy
Pinder, Jake Lambert
and Tom Clegg.
The Bystanders makes its UK premier at the closing night of
the Sci-Fi London Film Festival on June 6th, with a general release set
for later this year.

The official synopsis reads:
Pete (Scott Haran) was a runner-up in the UK Under 15s Chess Championship – to date, his biggest accomplishment in life. It’s his 25th birthday. He has no friends and a job he hates. From an alternative dimension appears Frank (Seann Walsh) to give him a second chance – to recruit him for The Bystanders.
Each Bystander has been tasked with watching a human ‘subject’. Some use their powers to help their subjects. Some to punish them. Others just can’t be bothered…
