The Tree of Life is the movie that turned a lot of cinephiles away from Terrence Malick due to its excising of a clear traditional narrative in favour of what might best be described as a collage of emotions, half remembered memories and spiritual themes, an approach Malick continued in his subsequent movies, To the Wonder and Knight of Cups. Here at TMW however, we're huge fans of Malick's recent work.
