László Nemes' first film since 2018's Sunset is the 1950s-set Orphan. Co-written with Clara Royer, the film takes place in Budapest in the aftermath of the anti-communist uprising and follows a young Jewish boy who is surprisingly reunited with the father he believed was dead. Nemes drew inspiration from his own father's childhood.
The film stars Bojtorján Barabas, Grégory Gadebois, Andrea Waskovics, Hermina Fátyol, Elíz Szabó and Soma Sándor.
Orphan is in UK/ROI cinemas from May 15th.
