Writer/director Paul Bickel makes his feature debut with Our Happy Place, a claustrophobic horror movie shot during the pandemic but finally hitting festivals now.
The film stars Raya Miles as Raya, a woman left to care for her bedridden husband (Bickel). Waking each morning in a nearby forest, Raya finds herself trapped in an endless cycle of nightmares in which she's buried in a deeper grave each time. When her reality and dreams begin to blur, Raya is drawn to a secret buried in the woods.
The film also stars Tracie Thoms and Eugene Byrd.
Our Happy Place receives its international premiere at the Raindance Film Festival on June 20th.
