Ahead of its UK/ROI release on Disney+ later this month, a behind the
scenes video has been released for Chloé Zhao's
Nomadland.
Inspired by journalist Jessica Bruder’s 2017 non-fiction book
'Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century', the Oscar
frontrunner sees Frances McDormand play an aging woman forced to
live a nomadic life in her van following the economic collapse of her
Nevada company town. As with Zhao's previous films
Songs My Brothers Taught Me
and
The Rider, Nomadland features amateur performers playing
versions of themselves.
Nomadland is on Disney+ UK/ROI from April 30th and in UK
cinemas from May 17th.
Check out the featurette below.
The official synopsis reads:
Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
