Actor Daniel P. Lewis draws on his own history of mental health struggles with his script for director Ruth Carney's Amazing Grace. The film sees Lewis play Walter, an isolated man who forms a bond with crisis helpline volunteer Grace (Hannah Walters).
Amazing Grace is in UK cinemas from November 6th.
"This story is incredibly personal to me and one I’ve wanted to tell for a long time," says Lewis. "At its heart, this is a film about things we often struggle to talk about - trauma, shame, isolation and mental health, but ultimately it is about hope, connection and the possibility that being heard can change something."
