A new restoration of Coppola's classic is coming to cinemas and blu-ray.
Francis Ford Coppola's epic Vietnam war drama Apocalypse Now turns 40 this year, and to mark the occasion a new, never seen before cut, dubbed the 'Final Cut', has been restored in 4K by the director himself.
Restored from the original negative for the first time ever, Apocalypse Now: Final Cut is Coppola’s most complete version of his multi-awarded classic. According to the director it "looks better than it has ever looked and sounds better than it has ever sounded. The audience will be able to see, hear and feel this film how I always hoped it could be—from the first ‘bang’ to the final whimper."
Apocalypse Now: Final Cut will play in UK cinemas and IMAX on August 13th, followed by a release on blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on August 26th. Cinema screenings will include a filmed conversation with Coppola and Steven Soderbergh.
Bonus features on the home releases include all three versions of the movie (The Final Cut, The Theatrical and The Redux) and the Hearts of Darkness documentary; a new intro by Coppola; commentary by Coppola; and a host of featurettes.
