
Tom Cruise makes a rare comedic outing in the lead role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's black comedy Digger. A heavily made-up Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, an aging oil baron who becomes the planet's only hope when the US president (John Goodman) assigns him the task of averting a massive ecological disaster caused by his own actions.
Iñárritu co-wrote the script with his Birdman writers Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, and the playwright Sabina Berman.
The cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D'Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman and Michael Stuhlbarg.
Digger is in UK/ROI cinemas from October 2nd.
