We chatted with actress and model Lorynn York, soon to be seen in the SyFy sequel 2 Lava 2 Lantula.
Interview by Eric Hillis (@hilliseric)
Hey Lorynn, you're a model and an actress; how do you balance a dual career and do you prioritise one over the other?
Hello! Thank you for having me. I love to model, however acting comes first in my life. It is my passion. At this time in my career, modeling just comes along with being an actor.
Who are your acting role models, and why?
Connie Britton, Julia Stiles,Claire Danes, and Charlize Theron. These are all actresses who have fearlessly stretched boundaries. I am inspired by all of these women.
You had a small part in our favourite Marvel movie, Iron Man 3. That must have been quite an experience?
It was a tiny featured extra role that I auditioned for in North Carolina. “Miss Johnson City” was the role name. I couldn’t believe I was in a scene with Robert. It was incredible watching Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black work together on set.
You've appeared in a few productions for the Lifetime network, which has suddenly become a very trendy channel with big screen stars like Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig appearing in Lifetime originals. Why do you think the network has become so popular now?
The Lifetime network has always been a favourite channel of mine. I am very fortunate that they have selected a good number of my films to air in the past. Their TV show UnReal has actually become one of my favorite shows! I one hundred percent agree that their recent content has made them a very viable channel that appeals to more people than ever before!
This summer you'll be appearing alongside Steve Guttenberg in the horror sequel 2 Lava 2 Lantula. What can you tell us about the film and your character?
My character’s name is Daniella. She runs around escaping from the lavalantulas with a group of three other characters. Even with the horror aspect of the movie, there are some outstanding moments of comedy within our foursome’s adventure.
It was quite an experience sharing a set with Steve. Every moment we had before or after shooting was full of laughter. Michelle Weaver, who plays his daughter, has a scene with Steve at the end of the movie that will make all of you cry. I cannot wait. Colten West (Steve Guttenberg) does not disappoint!
Are you a fan of monster movies?
When I first found out I booked the movie, Syfy Channel hid the official name of the film. I got to set the first day and found out it was the sequel to Lavalantula! I went home that night and watched the first film. It was my first time watching an actual “monster movie” and I became a huge fan of the genre, and an even bigger fan of Steve.
What's next up for Lorynn York?
Testing and auditioning currently. We shall see!
Thanks for taking the time to speak to us Lorynn!
Thank you! It’s been great!
