Originally conceived as a M3GAN spinoff, Soulm8te was originally slated for a cinema release this year before disappearing from the schedule. It has now been announced that the movie will skip cinemas and premiere on VOD. The film is directed by Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother), who rewrote an initial script by Rafael Jordan from a story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Jordan.
Lily Sullivan plays an AI android purchased by a grieving man (David Rysdahl) to help him get over his wife's passing. Things take a deadly turn when the android develops feelings.
Soulm8te is on US VOD from August 1st. A UK/ROI release has yet to be announced.
