2025 brings us not one but two horror movies set in retirement homes, both of which are titled The Home. Along with the Swedish movie The Home (read our review here) we get an American chiller of the same name from the creator of The Purge, James DeMonaco, who directs and co-writes with Adam Cantor.
The film sees Pete Davidson break away from comedy to play a young criminal sentenced to serve community service at a retirement home. There he uncovers the chilling secrets of the fourth floor.
John Glover and Bruce Altman also star.
"When I set out to create The Home, I aimed to capture the spine-chilling eeriness of '70s horror, where suspense simmers and ultimately erupts into glorious chaos," says DeMonaco. "Joining me is my Staten Island brother, Pete Davidson, who unveils a darker, dramatic side as his character navigates a bizarre group of residents in an old age home. The growing tension culminates in an epic blood-soaked finale, designed to leave audiences gasping, terrified, and cheering. I can't wait for everyone to visit The Home. Cover your eyes, folks."
The Home is in US cinemas from July 25th. A UK/ROI release has yet to be announced.
