The reboot comes to UK/ROI cinemas in October.

After handing director David Gordon Green the keys to the Halloween franchise (the less said about the results the better) they've now put him in charge of rebooting another beloved horror property.

The Exorcist: Believer sees Ellen Burstyn return to the role of Chris MacNeil, whose daughter Regan was possessed back in 1973. Leslie Odom Jr plays a father who enlists her help when his daughter (Lidya Jewett) and her friend (Olivia Marcum) appear to be the latest targets of Old Nick.

The film also stars Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles and Norbert Leo Butz.

The Exorcist: Believer is in UK/ROI cinemas from October 13th.

The official synopsis reads:

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
