Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer stars
Cillian Murphy as physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as "the
father of the atomic bomb," and appears to focus on the race to create a
weapon that will end WWII. The film is based on the Pulitzer
Prize-winning book 'American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J.
Robert Oppenheimer' by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
The stacked cast also includes
Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey, Jr, Gary Oldman, Casey Affleck,
Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, Rami
Malek, Dane DeHaan, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich,
Jack Quaid
and Matthew Modine.
Oppenheimer is in UK/ROI cinemas from July 21st, 2023.
Nolan is known for his use of the IMAX format in his films, and
Oppenheimer sees him deploy the format once again. Oppenheimer
is filmed in a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-format film
photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX black and
white analogue photography.
