Written and directed by Cory Choy, Esme, My Love stars
Stacey Weckstein as a mother who takes her terminally ill daughter
(Audrey Grace Marshall) to her family's now dormant farm in hopes of
spending some quality time together. There the mother and daughter make
unsettling discoveries as a mysterious past comes back to haunt them.
"I recognise that women are underrepresented in film, both on and off
screen," says Choy. "And while I didn't set out with this explicit intention, I am very proud
to have made a movie exploring the relationship between parent and child
that stars only women (one of whom is a little girl), was co-written and
co-edited by women, with cinematography by a woman, and features a score
composed by women."
Esme, My Love is on worldwide VOD from June 2nd.
