Director Haider Rashid's Europa stars Adam Ali as
Kamal, a refugee fleeing Iraq who finds himself fighting for his life as
he attempts to cross the Turkish-Bulgarian border.
Rashid spoke of the film's shoot in a forest in Tuscany.
"It was difficult, but we were all well aware of the privilege we had in
making this film, and the more time we spent in the forest, the more all
of us disconnected from the outside world and reality," he said. "I
believe this seeped in to the film. It was a formative, humbling and
unique experience for the whole crew."
Europa is in UK cinemas and on VOD from March 18th.
