Of all the 1970s "Movie Brats" who are still plying their trade today,
Paul Schrader is arguably the one doing the most interesting work.
With his last film,
First Reformed, he delivered arguably the best movie of his directorial career and a
contender for the best movie of the past decade.
Next up for Schrader is The Card Counter. The film stars Oscar Isaac as a former military interrogator who
now uses the skills he developed to become a successful gambler. He finds
himself acting as a mentor to a young man (Tye Sheridan) seeking
revenge against an enemy.
Tiffany Haddish and Willem Dafoe also star.
The Card Counter is in UK/ROI cinemas from November
5th.
