The lack of Hollywood fare in UK cinemas has allowed indies to take centre stage. At time of writing the British horror movie Saint Maud is topping the box office, and a few weeks ago the teen romance After We Collided proved a massive hit despite its unconventional self-distribution method.
Director Guy Davies has similarly put together a DIY cinema release for his coming of age drama Philophobia, with over 40 cinemas lined up to play the film despite its lack of an official distributor.
The film stars Joshua Glenister as Kai, one of a group of friends negotiating a dramatic final week of high school. Harry Lloyd, James Faulkner, Alexander Lincoln, Kim Spearman, Jack Gouldbourne and Grace Englert also star.
Philophobia is in UK cinemas from October 30th.

The official synopsis reads:
Philophobia is a picture of small town adolescence. One week of high school remains for Kai, an aspiring writer, and his friends. How they choose to spend this time awakens sexual desires, costs one of them their life and leaves them all changed forever.
