A new adaptation of Mart Crowley's play is coming to Netflix in September.
Previously adapted for the screen by William Friedkin in 1970, Mart Crowley's 1968 play The Boys in the Band was considered a groundbreaking portrayal of gay life. Director Joe Mantello has now adapted the play, which concerns a group of gay men who gather to celebrate a birthday, for Netflix.
The ensemble cast has been taken directly from the 2018 Broadway production, which boasted a cast consisting completely of openly gay actors - Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesús, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, Tuc Watkins.
The Boys in the Band is on Netflix from September 30th.

The official synopsis reads:
A group of gay men gather for a birthday party in 1968 New York City, only to find the drinks and laughs interrupted when a visitor from the host’s past turns the evening upside down.
