Most of the filmmakers working in the horror genre today were raised in the era of VHS, so it's no surprise that we've seen nostalgic movies like V/H/S and Beyond the Gates tap into their generation's nostalgia for analog video.
The latest movie to do so is writer/director Jon Stevenson's feature debut Rent-A-Pal. Set in the early '90s, the film stars Brian Landis Folkins as a lonely man who makes a sinister new buddy in the form of a mysterious videotape featuring a host played by Wil Wheaton. Amy Rutledge and Kathleen Brady also star.
Rent-A-Pal is on US VOD September 11th. A UK/ROI release has yet to be announced.
