The musical comedy comes to UK/ROI cinemas this July.
While countless movies have had their theatrical release dates moved back, one film that has bucked the trend is director Thom Fitzgerald's musical comedy Stage Mother, which has moved its release forward!
The film stars Jacki Weaver as a conservative Texan Christian who inherits her late son's San Francisco drag club, which she endeavours to save from bankruptcy. Lucy Liu, Adrian Grenier, Jackie Beat and Mya Taylor also star.
Stage Mother is in UK/ROI cinemas July 24th, with preview screenings on July 16th (International Drag Day).
Check out the trailer, poster and official synopsis below.
The official synopsis reads:
STAGE MOTHER sees conservative, Texas church-choir director Maybelline (Jacki Weaver, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, ANIMAL KINGDOM) inheriting her recently deceased son’s drag club, and surprising her closed-minded husband, and everyone else she knows, by moving alone to San Francisco to save the club from bankruptcy.
In this raucous, racy new environment, she begins to open up and find new meaning for her life, even becoming a mother-figure to the club's flamboyant performers... until a surprise visit threatens to upend her new life.
