First look at the upcoming biopic of the music legend.
If James Brown is the Godfather of Soul, Aretha Franklin is undoubtedly the Godmother. Directed by Tony Award winner Liesl Tommy in her feature film debut, Respect tells the story of the First Lady of Soul, from her early days as a child singing in her local church choir to the megastardom she experienced as an adult.
Franklin is played as child by Skye Dakota Turner with Jennifer Hudson portraying her as an adult. The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Heather Headley, Tate Donovan and Mary J. Blige.
Respect is in UK/ROI cinemas January 22nd, 2021.
