Larraz's '80s slasher makes its blu-ray debut this January.
Spanish filmmaker José Ramón Larraz is best known for his 1970s films Vampyres and Symptoms, but he continued feature directing into the early '90s. His 1988 slasher Edge of the Axe has been largely overlooked but courtesy of Arrow Video it's making its blu-ray debut.
Arriving at the tail-end of the slasher era, Edge of the Axe sees a young computer geek and his girlfriend attempt to unmask the killer responsible for a series of murders in small town California.
Edge of the Axe comes to blu-ray January 27th.
Bonus features include commentary tracks by podcasters The Hysteria Continues and actor Barton Faulks, and a newly-filmed interview with special effects and make-up artist Colin Arthur.

The official synopsis reads:
The rural community of Paddock County is being rocked by the crazed exploits of an axe-wielding psychopath, who stalks the night in a black trenchcoat and mask. As the victims pile up, the authorities attempt to keep a lid on the situation, whilst computer whizz-kid Gerald and girlfriend Lillian seek to unmask the killer before the town population reaches zero.
"A film very much in keeping with Lucio Fulci’s other ultra-gore-soaked fever dreams."— 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕄𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕎𝕒𝕗𝕗𝕝𝕖𝕣.𝕔𝕠𝕞 🎬 (@themoviewaffler) January 15, 2020
