A new infographic lays out the multiple timelines of the slasher series.
With director David Gordon Green's upcoming Halloween discarding all other sequels to John Carpenter's 1978 original, that makes it no less than five separate timelines existing in the slasher franchise.
The first timeline begins with the 1978 film and continues with Halloween II, skipping the non Michael Myers instalment Halloween III: Season of the Witch, then proceeding through Halloween 4, 5 and 6.
The second timeline consists of one single movie - Halloween III, which deviates from the format to tell a standalone story of an evil Irish toymaker.
The third timeline starts with Carpenter's original, followed by Halloween II and skipping ahead to 1998's Halloween H20 and concluding with 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.
The fourth timeline consists of Rob Zombie's divisive 2007 remake and its 2009 sequel.
The fifth and final (for now at least) timeline begins with the '78 film and skips ahead 40 years to this year's upcoming sequel, also confusingly called Halloween.
If you're still confused, the folks over at HalloweenCostumes.com have put together the below handy infographic, which lays it all out like a subway map.
