A host of blaxploitation classics are coming to VOD this July.
Since 1986, Xenon Pictures have been committed to cataloging and releasing essential works of African-American cinema from filmmakers like Melvin Van Peebles, Rudy Ray Moore, Jamma Fanaka, Julie Dash, Tim Story and Robert Townsend. With a library of over 200 titles, Xenon are now beginning to release their blaxploitation titles to VOD, with a slew of remastered classics arriving on HD VOD in July.
On July 3rd, a quartet of movies from comedian/actor/rap pioneer Rudy Ray Moore arrives, as Dolemite, The Human Tornado, Disco Godfather and Petey Wheatstraw make their VOD debuts.
On the same date, Melvin van Peebles' seminal 1971 indie Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song releases.
Also released on HD VOD this July from Xenon are the Penitentiary franchise, starring Leon Isaac Kennedy; the original black samurai film Death Force; music documentary Welcome to Death Row; action-drama The Muthers; 1973 horror-comedy favorite Blackenstein; and one of the original blaxploitation horror films, Lord Shango.
