A scrubbed up version of the classic British comedy is on its way.
Perhaps the most well known of Ealing Studios' classic British comedies is director Alexander Mackendrick's 1955 The Ladykillers. The film concerns a gang of criminals who pose as a string quartet while planning a robbery, only to run afoul of their elderly landlady. The cast features the likes of Alec Guinness, Katie Johnson, Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Danny Green, Jack Warner, Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Connor.
Using the original three-strip technicolor negative, The Ladykillers has been newly restored in 4K for a re-release. The film will be released by Studiocanal in UK cinemas October 23rd, followed by a release on DVD, blu-ray, digital and a 4K UHD collector's edition on November 9th.

The official synopsis reads:
THE LADYKILLERS follows the hilarious capers of a group of small-time crooks, taking on more they can handle in the form of their sweet, but slightly dotty, elderly landlady Mrs Wilberforce (BAFTA Award-winning actress Katie Johnson; How To Murder A Rich Uncle). This group of seedy misfits are planning a security van robbery and rent a room from Mrs Wilberforce in her rickety Victorian house next to King’s Cross station from which to base their operation. To conceal their true purpose, they pose as a string quartet, though they cannot play a note and are in fact miming to a recording of Boccherini’s Minuet. The gang pull off the robbery but none of them could have predicted that their greatest obstacle to escaping with the loot would be their tiny hostess.
