
Director Charlie McDowell and screenwriter Robert Jones adapt Tove Jansson's 1972 novel The Summer Book. The film is centred on three generations of a Finnish family - eight-year-old Sophia (Emily Matthews), her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) and her grandmother (Glenn Close) - as they spend a summer together on a remote island in the wake of the devastating loss of Sophia's mother.
The Summer Book is in UK/ROI cinemas from August 7th.
