
Winner of the Jury prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival and selected as Germany's submission for Best International Feature Film at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards is writer/director Mascha Schilinski's Sound of Falling. Co-written with Louise Peter, the film follows four girls in different time periods, all of whom grow up on the same farm. Despite being separated by time, the girls' lives begin to mirror each other.
The film stars Hanna Heckt, Lena Urzendowsky, Laeni Geiseler, Susanne Wuest, Luise Heyer and Lea Drinda.
Sound of Falling is in UK/ROI cinemas from March 6th, 2026.

The official synopsis reads:
Four girls, Alma (1910s), Erika (1940s), Angelika (1980s), and Lenka (2020s) each spend their youth on the same farm in northern Germany. As the home evolves over a century, echoes of the past linger in its walls. Though separated by time, their lives begin to mirror each other, revealing shared secrets that have been kept hidden.
