
Kleber Mendonça Filho (Bacurau) scooped the Best Director prize at this year's Cannes Film festival for his political thriller The Secret Agent. Set in 1977 during the dying days of Brazil's military dictatorship, the film sees Wagner Moura play a political refugee who hides out in the coastal city of Recife, only to find himself under surveillance.
Carlos Francisco, Tânia Maria, Alice Carvalho, Robério Diógenes, Gabriel Leone, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Isabél Zuaa and Udo Kier also star.
The Secret Agent is in UK/ROI cinemas from February 20th.

The official synopsis reads:
A university professor travels from São Paulo to the seaside city of Recife during Carnival week, hoping to reunite with his son. He soon finds out he’s been tailed and spied on by neighbors in his new refuge, leaving him no possible escape from the tentacles of corruption.
