
Project Hail Mary is adapted from a novel from The Martian writer Andy Weir and similarly involves a man in outer space forced to use his brainpower to escape his predicament. The film is written by The Martian's screenwriter Drew Goddard and directed by the duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie).
Ryan Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a teacher who wakes aboard a spaceship light years from Earth with no initial recollection of how he got there. He eventually recalls that he has been sent on a mission to save our planet from a mysterious substance destroying the sun.
The film also stars Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub.
Project Hail Mary is in cinemas in 2026.

Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
