Directed by Wei Shujun and co-written with Kang Chunlei, Only the River Flows is adapted from
Yu Hua's short story 'Mistakes by the River'. The film takes place in the 1990s and follows a
police chief (Zhu Yilong) who begins to question if there is more to
a series of "solved" murders than meets the eye.
Chloe Maayan, Hou Tianlai and Tong Linkai also star.
Only the River Flows is in UK/ROI cinemas from August
16th.

The official synopsis reads:
1990s, Banpo Town, rural China. A woman’s body is found by the river. Ma Zhe, Chief of the Criminal Police, heads up the murder investigation that quickly leads to an obvious arrest. As his superiors are keen to communicate their success, several clues push Ma Zhe to delve deeper into the hidden behaviour of his fellow citizens.
