Throughout the '80s and '90s the names of director James Ivory and producer Ismail Merchant were
synonymous with the British period drama thanks to prestige productions
like A Room with a View, Howards End and
The Remains of the Day. Directed by Stephen Soucy, Merchant Ivory takes a look at the
duo's impact on cinema.
Featured in the documentary are writer Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, composer Richard Robbins and
actors Emma Thompson, Helena Bonham Carter, Hugh Grant, Vanessa Redgrave, Rupert Graves and James Wilby.
Merchant Ivory is in US cinemas from August 30th. A UK/ROI
release has yet to be announced.
