Written and directed by Brandon Christensen (Z;
Superhost;
Still/Born) and co-written with Ryan Christensen,
The Puppetman recently scooped the Jury Award for Best Feature at Popcorn Frights. the film stars Caryn Richman
as Michal, the daughter of a convicted killer (Michael Paré) who
claims his body was controlled by a supernatural force when he committed his
evil deeds. When people around Michal start to die in mysterious
circumstances she faces the truth about her father's claims. Alyson Gorske
also stars.
"The Puppetman harkens back to films like
Final Destination
where you take a group of friends and exploit them for horrifying deaths,"
says Christensen. "We had a ton of fun developing these characters and then taking
everything we know about them and turning it against themselves. While
I've killed off characters before, it was nothing compared to the
grotesque machinations that Shudder allowed us to do on
The Puppetman."
The Puppetman is on Shudder from October 13th.
