For her feature debut, writer/director Laura Moss, working alongside
co-writer Brendan J. O'Brien, reimagines Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' in a contemporary
setting.
Marin Ireland has become something of a horror stalwart with roles
in the likes of
The Boogeyman, The Empty Man and
The Dark and the Wicked. Here she plays the Baron Frankenstein figure: Rose, a pathologist
obsessed with reanimating the dead. All she needs is a test subject, which
comes courtesy of Celie (Judy Reyes), whose young daughter has
recently passed.
A.J. Lister, Breeda Wool, Monique Garbiela Curnen, Rina Mejia,
Grant Harrison
and LaChanze also star.
birth/rebirth is in US cinemas from August 18th. A UK/ROI
release has yet to be announced though it will likely debut on Shudder in
these parts later this year.

The official synopsis reads:
Rose is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction. She also has an obsession — the reanimation of the dead. Celie is a maternity nurse who has built her life around her bouncy, chatterbox six-year-old daughter, Lila. When one tragic night, Lila suddenly falls ill and dies, the two women’s worlds crash into each other. They embark on a dark path of no return where they will be forced to confront how far they are willing to go to protect what they hold most dear.
