Set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May is
David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future. While it shares the same title as his 1970 film, Cronenberg's latest has
no connection with that earlier movie. The upcoming movie stars
Viggo Mortensen as a performance artist known for manipulating his
organs, something which draws the attention of an investigator played by
Kristen Stewart.
The film also stars Léa Seydoux, Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, Lihi Kornowski and Tanaya Beatty.

The official synopsis reads:
As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.
