The big-screen adaptation of the hugely popular kids’ TV series opens at
the top of the chart on digital download sales only. The heroic pups face
their biggest challenge to date after their biggest rival, Mayor Humdinger
threatens to turn nearby Adventure City from bustling metropolis into a
state of chaos.
With Tyler Perry and Ron Pardo heading up the main cast,
there are star cameos from Jimmy Kimmel, who plays newscaster Marty
Muckraker, and Kim Kardashian West, who takes on the role of
Delores, the sassy poodle.
Meanwhile, Space Jam: A New Legacy flies seven places to
Number 2, following its release on DVD, Blu-ray & 4K UHD. DC Comics’
2021 film
The Suicide Squad
(not to be confused with its 2016 prequel,
Suicide Squad) debuts at Number 3 with its sales made up of only digital download
copies.
Last week’s Number 1 Fast & Furious 9 stalls at Number
4 this week, finishing ahead of Jungle Cruise at Number 5,
and animated adventure The Croods: A New Age at Number 6.
M. Night Shyamalan’s
Old
climbs one place to Number 7 following its release on disc, while
Free Guy tumbles four to Number 8.
Venom
drops four places to Number 9, and Black Widow rounds off
the countdown at Number 10.
Elsewhere in the chart, several Halloween-themed favourites take a place
in the Top 20, including Roald Dahl’s
The Witches (13), Hocus Pocus (15),
Scream (17) and Beetlejuice (20) while 2021
horrors The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (12) and
The Forever Purge
(19) also earn a place each.
