There aren't many filmmakers that could get us excited for an adaptation
of West Side Story, considering how flawless Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins' 1961 version
is, but Steven Spielberg has enough credit in the bank to receive a
pass.
With a screenplay from Tony Kushner, Spielberg's version stars
Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler in the lead roles of
star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria.
The film also stars
Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Ana
Isabelle, Corey Stoll
and Brian d’Arcy James, along with the return of
Rita Moreno.
West Side Story is in UK/ROI cinemas from December 10th.
