The Scandinavian scarefest comes to Shudder this July.
The 1958 Norwegian horror movie Lake of the Dead is considered a Scandinavian genre classic, and has now been remade by director Nini Bull Robsahm, who took inspiration from both the '58 film and the 1942 novel it's based on.
As with the original, Lake of Death sees a group of visitors to a remote lakeside cabin become embroiled in an eerie mystery concerning a local legend and the mysterious disappearance of one of their brothers. Iben Akerlie, Jacob Andersen Schøyen, Jonathan Harboe, Sophia Lie and Elias Munk star.
Lake of Death is on Shudder from July 16th.

The official synopsis reads:
A year after her twin brother mysteriously disappeared, Lillian and her friends head to the old family cabin to say their goodbyes. But soon after they arrive, eerie and gruesome events begin to occur. As the lines between reality and Lillian's nightmares blur, she must fight both an external and internal struggle to stay alive. Is a horrific local legend becoming reality, or is the real enemy among them?
"For all the existing sci-fi/horror ingredients Jeffrey A. Brown throws into his narrative pot, he manages to make The Beach House a distinctively flavoured chowder of his own."— The Movie Waffler (@themoviewaffler) July 10, 2020
