First look at director J. Jones' confined thriller.
The recent fad for 'Escape Rooms' has led to several horror movies setting their action in such confined environments. Of course, Escape Rooms are themselves inspired by movies like Cube and the Saw franchise, while the genre likely has its roots in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which laid out the concept of characters being essentially bumped off as they negotiate a series of bizarre 'rooms'.
The latest movie to exploit this premise is director J. Jones' Escape: Puzzle of Fear. In this one, a Hollywood agent and three friends find themselves trapped in a deadly escape room by someone seeking revenge. The film stars Tommy Nash, Aubrey Reynolds, Omar Gooding, Naina Michaud, Nicholas Turturro, Sara Stretton, John Colton and Lili Bordán.
Escape: Puzzle of Fear is on US DVD/VOD from August 18th. A UK/ROI release has yet to be announced.
