First look at the upcoming music drama.
We seem to be in the midst of a fad for movies based around the travails of female pop stars, with Natalie Portman and Lady Gaga starring in the upcoming Vox Lux and A Star Is Born respectively. Another movie that explores a young woman battling with pop stardom is actor Max Minghella's directorial debut, Teen Spirit.
Minghella's film stars Elle Fanning as a young girl who enters a prestigious international singing competition, but with the trailer boasting an aesthetic that appears to lean heavily on the likes of Gaspar Noe and Nicolas Winding Refn, it looks like she may have to contend with the dark side of fame.
Teen Spirit also stars Rebecca Hall and will premiere on Friday, September 7th at the Toronto Film Festival.
