Groundhog Day gets the horror treatment.
In recent years we've seen a few movies borrow the time loop format of Groundhog Day, but Happy Death Day might be the first to apply it to a horror setting. Jessica Rothe stars as a college student forced to relive her birthday, which always ends with her demise at the hands of a masked killer, until she can find a way to reveal the killer's identity.
Happy Death Day is in UK/ROI cinemas October 20th.
The official synopsis reads:
Blumhouse (Split, Get Out) produces an original and inventive rewinding thriller in Happy Death Day, in which a college student (Jessica Rothe) relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.
