New UK Trailer for Acclaimed French Thriller LES MISÉRABLES

Les Misérables
Director Ladj Ly's thriller comes to UK/ROI cinemas in September.

It's taken a while, but Ladj Ly’s explosive directorial debut Les Misérables will finally be released in UK and Irish cinemas on September 4th. In the wake of a summer of social protest, it's a timely release for the film which takes place over the course of a summer day in a Parisian suburb, which erupts following a police shooting.

The film stars Damien Bonnard as Stéphane, a rural cop who relocates to Paris and is paired up with volatile cop Chris (Alexis Manenti) and his long-suffering partner Gwada (Djebril Zonga). When the latter accidentally shoots a young boy with his flash gun, Stéphane finds himself torn between doing the right thing and sticking by his colleagues, who attempt to cover up the incident.

The official synopsis reads:

Stéphane (Damien Bonnard) has recently joined the Anti-Crime Squad in Montfermeil, in the suburbs of Paris, France, where, Victor Hugo set his famed novel “Les Misérables”.  Alongside his new colleagues Chris (Alexis Manenti) and Gwada (Djebril Zonga) - both experienced members of the team - he quickly discovers tensions running high between local gangs. When the trio finds themselves overrun during the course of an arrest, a drone captures the encounter, threatening to expose the reality of everyday life.
