6 Straight-To-Release Movies to Watch While Stuck At Home

Capone Tom Hardy

The last few months have been tough and being on lockdown becomes quite boring after a while. Sports are on hold and even NBA betting enthusiasts can be happy for the return of basketball, they can’t still go to the games. Due to the restrictions put in place, an escape to the theatre is no longer an option when you need some entertainment.

Fortunately, movie studios have realized releasing movies directly to the consumer is the only option this pandemic presents. In fact, a few movies have been released using this unusual method in the past few months. Here are a few that are available for stream;

You Should Have Left
Released on Jun 18

Most movies have been released directly to the consumer because they weren’t good after all. Well, You Should Have Left is different. In this thriller for Universal Studios, Amanda Seyfried and Kevin Bacon star as a couple. The two take an amazing retreat to a vacation home, but things turn ugly when they are about to leave. A mysterious force prevents them from doing so, and they have to find a way to escape. Make sure you watch the movie to find out how the story unfolds.

Miss Juneteenth
Release on June 19

If you think that straight-release movies aren’t exciting, you need to think again. Miss Juneteenth is one of the best movies you should watch as you keep safe from the COVID-19 menace. It tells a story of a mother preparing her daughter for the Miss Juneteenth pageant she won several years back. This movie has recorded massive critical acclaim, and currently enjoys a 99% approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

Irresistible
Released on June 26

Irresistible is a satirical movie by Jon Stewart starring Steve Carell. Carrel is depicted as a Democratic strategist who is determined to convert the state of Wisconsin blue. He does everything possible to make this happen, including turning Chris Cooper, who stars as a humble retired colonel, into a politician. Nonetheless, his plans are disenchanted by a republican strategist; a role played by Rose Byrne.

Since it’s a political satire, the movie of course received mixed reviews. Still, it’s an enjoyable funny movie and you won’t regret watching it. As usual, Carell delivers a great performance.

Da 5 Bloods
Released on June 12

Da 5 Bloods is a movie by Oscar winner Spike Lee which stars 4 African-American war veterans who return to Vietnam to recover their former leader. In a twist, however, they recover a stash of buried treasure, and this is where things get interesting. The movie is a must-watch for those who enjoy action, drama, and adventure.
