Woody Allen’s A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK to Make Its UK Home Premiere in June [Trailer/Poster]

A Rainy Day in New York
Allen's latest comedy is coming in June.

One of cinema's most prolific filmmakers, a new Woody Allen movie was traditionally an annual event. Thanks to his legal battles with Amazon, it's been two years since Allen's last film, Wonder Wheel, played in UK/ROI cinemas. A Rainy Day in New York's release has been so delayed that Allen has shot another film, Rifkin's Festival, in the meantime. Allen's UK fans can finally see the film in June when it hits premium digital under the 'Home Premiere' banner.

A Rainy Day in New York boasts a loaded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Jude Law, Diego Luna and Liev Schreiber, and follows the exploits of a young couple on a weekend in the Big Apple.

Signature Entertainment presents A Rainy Day in New York on Home Premiere June 5th.

The official synopsis reads:

A Rainy Day in New York tells the story of college sweethearts, Gatsby (Timothée Chalamet) and Ashleigh (Elle Fanning), whose plans for a romantic weekend together in the city are dashed as quickly as the sunlight turns into showers.

When Ashleigh gets an assignment from the school paper to interview celebrated film director Roland Pollard (Liev Schreiber) in Manhattan, Gatsby seizes the opportunity to show small-town girl Ashleigh his favourite haunts in his home city. However, Gatsby’s well-laid plans are quickly sidetracked when Pollard whisks Ashleigh away on a head-spinning series of encounters that lead her from the director to screenwriter Ted Davidoff (Jude Law) to movie star Francisco Vega (Diego Luna).

Left to his own devices in the city, Gatsby ends up spending the day with Chan (Selena Gomez), the sharp-witted younger sister of his ex-girlfriend, attending parties and having his own life-changing conversations and encounters.

Through this series of chance meetings and comical adventures the pair discover that while you only live once, once is enough if you find the right person.
