Kirill Serebrennikov’s Soviet era rock drama comes to UK cinemas in August.
Evoking Michael Winterbottom’s 24 Hour Party People and Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, Kirill Serebrennikov’s Leto tells the story of the rock scene in 1980s' Leningrad, where artists had to contend with state censorship to get their music heard.
The movie centres around the love triangle between musicians Viktor Tsoi (Teo Yoo) and Mike Naumenko (Roman Bilyk) and the latter's girlfriend Natalia (Irina Starshenbaum).
Leto is in UK cinemas and on MUBI August 16th.

The official synopsis reads:
An underground rock band in 1980s Russia navigate a love triangle and the confines of creative censorship in Soviet Russia. Caught between musical passion, yearning romantic desire and a changing political landscape, the band tries to rise from their humble underground performances to make it big.
