London's Kinoteka Polish Film Festival Unveils Its 2019 Line-Up

The programme for the 2019 Kinoteka Polish Film Festival has been revealed.

The 17th edition of Kinoteka, London's annual Polish Film Festival, runs from April 4th to 18th, along with screenings as part of the Belfast Film Festival.

The fest opens with animated drama Another Day of Life and closes with a gala screening of Pawel Pawlikowski's Oscar nominated Cold War, with the director in attendance.

Women filmmakers feature heavily with Jagoda Szelc’s horror movie MonumentOlga Chajdas’s award-winning LGBT romance Nina, and Fugue, the latest from The Lure director Agnieszka Smoczyńska.

Other new works include Piotr Domalewski’s Silent Night, Filip Bajon's The Butler, Paweł Maślona’s Panic Attack and Ewa Banaszkiewicz and Mateusz Dymek's My Friend the Polish Girl.

Elsewhere, veteran filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi presents his new film Ether and a screening of his 1971 classic Family Life.

Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem is celebrated with screenings of adaptations of his work, including the rare Russian television film version of Solyaris and the the East German space opera Silent Star.

Andrzej Żuławski's long-lost sci-fi film On the Silver Globe will be screened alongside an exhibition of costumes and ephemera from the film.

Tribute is to be paid to late cinematographer Witold Sobocinski with four movies he worked on - Family Life, Hands Up!, The Hourglass Sanatorium and The Third Part of the Night.
