Based on the 2010 documentary Marwencol, Robert Zemeckis's Welcome to Marwen stars Steve Carell as the victim of a violent assault who builds a miniature world as a means of therapy.
Blending animation with live-action, the film also stars Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Merritt Wever, Janelle Monáe, Eiza González and Gwendoline Christie.
Welcome to Marwen doesn't have a UK/ROI release date yet, but you can check out the first US trailer below.
The official synopsis reads:
When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery. Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic. As he builds an astonishing art installation-a testament to the most powerful women he knows-through his fantasy world, he draws strength to triumph in the real one.
