5. Metro Manila
A young family move from the rural Phillipines to the country's chaotic capital, Manila. Sounds like a big screen adaptation of Stevie Wonder's 'Living for the City' crossed with 'The Raid: Redemption'.

4. Cold Comes the Night
Bryan Cranston's near blind criminal takes Alice Eve hostage to act as his eyes. Not much has come out about this but it's pretty much the first time Cranston has been given a lead role, which gets us on board.

3. Hannah Arendt
By all accounts, Barbara Sukowa puts in a bravura performance as the controversial New Yorker reporter. The film focuses on the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, when Arendt was heavily criticised for her refusal to report on the case in black and white moral terms.

2. Ain't Them Bodies Saints
Casey Affleck escapes from prison to be with his wife (Rooney Mara) and daughter. Shot in Texas and making great use of the light found in that part of the world, we're getting a real Malickian vibe from this one.

1. Blue Jasmine
One of the great things about Woody Allen is that he releases a new movie every year so the bad taste he left in our mouths with the awful 'To Rome With Love' won't last too much longer. His latest, inspired by Tennessee Williams' 'A Streetcar Named Desire' is picking up rave reviews Stateside, with Cate Blanchett being heavily tipped for an Oscar nod for her role as the New York snob who has to move in with her working class sister in San Francisco.
