As we write this, we have only 10 days left on our Kickstarter campaign, and we still need to raise more than $170,000, so we can go on making the documentary about the first female film director, Alice Guy-Blaché.
Even though we have great people giving us their names, their time, and their support, we can't find financing in Hollywood for our project.
We have Jodie Foster as the narrator and interviews of Sir Ben Kingsley, Catherine Hardwicke, Julie Delpy, Ava DuVernay, Kevin MacDonald and Julie Taymor, to name a few.

Our film industry colleagues were very surprised that they have never heard of Alice, and they all agree that she is the woman we ought to know!
In 1895, 23-year-old Alice Guy was invited to the Lumière Brothers’ screening. In 1896, at the age of 23 she made one of the first narrative films in history. A year later, Alice became the first Head of Production of Gaumont studios. Gaumont still exists today, making films like 'The Fifth Element', 'The Professional' and 'The Intouchables'. Alice went on to become the first woman to start her own studio, Solax, in the US in 1910. She wrote, directed, or produced more than a 1,000 films of all kinds and then vanished from history.
When we first heard about Alice, we knew right away that we had to tell her story. Alice had it all; dreams, passion and determination. Using our unique storytelling approach, we will shed light on Alice's story and show the world what an amazing pioneer she was, setting an example for future generations. We are hoping not only to inform but also to entertain and finally put Alice back into history where she belongs.
The era in which the cinema was born is an amazing time to explore and there is no better guide than Alice herself.
